Continuing education units (CEUs) are offered through California State University, Sacramento, and LCSW and MFT hours are available through the Board of Behavioral Sciences. In addition, the provider is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing and the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board.

Continuing Education Units for Foundations and Skill Base Courses Online

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are offered through California State University, Sacramento for $75 for 10 hours.

  • Each online course completed earns 10 CEU hours. To obtain CEUs, participants must
    • Register for and complete a course;
      • Complete the course Post-Course Quiz;
      • Complete the course feedback form;
      • Download the course completion certificate;
    • Complete Registration Agreement (after course has ended);
    • Submit fee of $75 payable to WestEd.

WestEd is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LPCCs, LEPs and/or LCSWs. WestEd maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content. The provider’s CAMFT approval number is #135222.

  • Each online course completed earns 10 CEU hours from the Board of Behavioral Sciences.

The provider is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing for 10 contact hours per training day at $10 per hour.

  • Each online course completed earns 10 contact hours from the California Board of Registered Nursing; the total fee is $100 per course.

The provider is approved by the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board for 10 contact hours per training day at $10 per hour.

  • Each online course completed earns 6 contact hours from the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board. The total fee is $60 per course.

Continuing Education Units for the Foundations Practicum

Continuing education units (CEUs) are offered through California State University, Sacramento (CSUS) for $100 for 26 hours (2.6 CEU). The blended online and in-person training of the Foundation Practicum earns 26 CEU hours.

WestEd is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LPCCs, LEPs and/or LCSWs. WestEd maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content. The provider’s CAMFT approval number is #135222. Hours are offered for $10 per hour. The online portion of this Practicum meets the qualifications for 6 CEU hours of continuing education credit and the in-person portion of this Practicum meets the qualifications for 20 CEU hours of continuing education credit. The Early Start Institute Foundations Practicum, therefore, meets the qualifications for 26 total CEU hours of continuing education credit. The total fee is $260 per course. 

The provider is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing for 10 contact hours per training day at $10 per hour. The online portion of the Foundations Practicum earns 6 contact hours of continuing education credit and the in-person portion of this Practicum earns 20 CEU hours of continuing education credit. Completion of the Early Start Institute Foundations Practicum earns 26 contact hours from the California Board of Registered Nursing; the total fee is $260 per course.

The Department of Developmental Services, the California Department of Education, and the California Early Intervention Technical Assistance Network (CEITAN) at WestEd Center for Prevention & Early Intervention are pleased to offer this Comprehensive System of Personnel Development for early intervention service coordinators, service providers, specialists, administrators, and other early intervention personnel.

At the heart of all Early Start training is the comprehensive, evidence-based content that the field has come to expect from Early Start personnel development. The core curriculum and learning outcomes are aligned with the Early Start Personnel Manual competencies. Delivery of training is guided by the Training and Technical Assistance Collaborative Core Messages. All content is developed in collaboration with the Department of Developmental Services and partners from the California Department of Education as well as professional and parent leaders.
